In this second post about the UK car market we’re sharing some stats about the size of the market, the percentage of BEVs registered, and how we compare to the rest of the world.

China bought almost half of all the BEVs sold in the world in 2019, at 1.1m units. That’s 4.4% of all the cars sold there. This compares to 3.47% in Europe (including the UK), 1.94% in the US and 2.47% globally. In isolation the market share for BEV in the UK stands at just 1.6% in 2019.

China bought more cars than any other market at 25m in 2019 (contrast to 17m in both Europe and the US).
