Another month, another lovely set of registration data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). And it is lovely, because it’s charting a marked improvement overall in a market that’s so important to the UK economy.

Things to note?

1. Overall we’re up by 26% on this time last year!
2. Petrol and Hybrid were the biggest winners (up 36% and 40% respectively).
3. BEV still the second biggest selling fuel type after petrol, accounting for 1.7 of every 10 cars sold (up 18% year on year).
4. Diesel is the only fuel type falling (DOWN 7% on February 2022), and perilously close to falling into last place behind PHEV….
