Lots of good news in the November UK new car registration stats from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

The total number of BEVs on UK roads is now approx 623k, above the 600k mark for the first time.

BEVs represent 20.6% of registrations up from 14.8% in October.

And the biggest news is that total registrations are up 23% year on year. Back in July we were worried that the annual total could be under 1.5m (compared to around 2.3m in a normal year), but we’ve seen significant improvement over the last three months.

December will be interesting – will we exceed last year’s peak of 25.5% BEV market share in the month? Will the total for all new registrations for the year exceed last year’s 1.65m? Will Santa have replaced his magical reindeer with a 200kwh battery……
