Nine more smart motorways get approved despite concerns

So it seems that nine more “smart” motorways are to be approved. I know the issues here are complicated, but it does feel sometimes like the Government simply ignore views that don’t agree with their own? I use these motorways all the time and think they are simply dangerous.

What do others think? Can anyone explain what the benefits are?
