The tragedy of cars like the new Renault Clio E-Tech is that they’ll be ignored in favour of cars that are much heavier, expensive and ultimately more damaging to the environment.
If you read the article (link below) you can’t fail to be impressed by how much has been squeezed out of so little to develop this car. It emits less than 100g/km under WLTP, starts at under £20k, and yet does urban journeys up to 80% of the time on electric only courtesy of a tiny 1.2KwH battery. All this and probably still a hoot to drive.
Boris will no doubt join the crowd of villagers armed with pitchforks to chase it out of town, but people who actually care about CO2 and local pollution should rejoice at the genius of the Renault engineers that created this little car.
