So the Government has with immediate effect reduced the EV grant to £2,500 (i.e. by £500) and it’s now limited to cars costing £35k or less (previously £50,000).
In effect this is an immediate price rise on all EVs, and it’s a £3,000 hike on cars like Tesla 3, Polestar, etc where the grant will be gone entirely. How can that make sense when the entire industry is trying so hard to move to electric? Across the country teams are being called into meetings to discuss what to do. Can someone explain to me the logic of this change, and in particular the timing?
The issue for me is how do you plan for mass adoption of electric cars when they change the rules so significantly and with so little warning?
