As usual, we are sharing the update for June UK car registrations based on data released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

Points to note:

In general, we see much lower registrations this year compared to last (In 2021 for Jan – June, 910k cars were registered, so far only 802k have been registered this year).

For June, registrations are lowest since 1996 at just 141k, down from June 2020 which was at 145k.

Compared to last month, the percentage of BEVs registered has gone up significantly from 12.4% to 16.1%. This is also up year on year with 10.7% of cars registered BEVs June 2021..

In 2021, there was a steady decline in the percentage of diesels registered through the period (going from 19.2% in Jan, to 14.2% in June). This year, the percentage has remained fairly constant and has actually increased slightly since Jan (10.2% to 10.6%.)
