After the good news in September, October was another better month for UK car registrations, up overall by 26% year on year according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT)

As usual BEV was a big mover – up 23% on October 2021.

Unusually, however, an even bigger mover was petrol (including MHEV) up a whopping 27% year on year.

We suspect supply (or lack thereof) remains the biggest influencer in these figures. Several conversations we’ve had with OEMs, funders and brokers suggest that supply of ICE cars is now improving.
