The graph below looks at Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) registration stats from January 2021 to November 2022. The light blue is 2021. The dark blue is 2022. The orange star is the percentage of cars registered in that month that were BEV.
You can see that from March until August we’ve been behind last year, which was one of the worst on record. From September forwards though 2022 has been a better year.
You can also see that the % of EV is pretty much up every month this year over last, with December 2021 the peak at 26%.
1.64m new cars were registered in 2021 (against a “norm” of 2.3m). For 2022 the total stands at 1.48m with December to come.
